Pope High School

Project Details:

Location: Marietta, GA
Size: 97,000 SF
Client/Owner: Cobb County Public Schools

Project Scope:

Pope High School is known for its unique academic programs and commitment to student success. As part of the ongoing SPLOST Capital Program, Cobb County School District leadership identified the need for this campus to receive a new first-rate addition that would ensure their programs stay competitive with the best in the county.

The addition consists of a 3,000-seat competition gymnasium and a 750-seat auditorium. The entryway between the two gathering spaces features monumental stairs to guide spectators into the gym while the large shared lobby serves a pre-function area for gatherings.

The new building’s strategic position promotes connection between the students and the athletic facilities. The promenade between the existing school and the new facilities created a processional between buildings to streamline movement to the football and baseball fields, which aids crowd control during games. For student athletes and their coaches, the gym’s second floor opens directly to the upper fields for strategic views and access.

Our high-impact solution was cost-effective and efficient enough to serve multiple programs within the campus. We enhanced and renovated the athletic facilities, the CTAE and art departments, and marching band rehearsal space. With these changes, Pope High School has been completely transformed. We created a superior, quality learning environment to motivate students to succeed and benefit the school district for decades to come.

“Melissa and her staff have always been very professional and responsive to all our requests. The school and community have been very pleased with the results.”
