Clarke Central High School

When addressing the master plan for Clarke Central High School, administrators for the school system asked the design team at CDH Partners to create a building that would not only foster excitement for the learning process but become a catalyst for sustained enrollment. This three-story addition to an already energetic campus provided much needed technology classroom and lab space.

Since its construction, the structure has become a nerve center for the campus. Classroom space provides areas where students gain practical experience while learning the basics for a vocational trade. Culinary students enjoy a state-of-the-art lab that includes a kitchen and a dining room where they prepare meals for special events.

Since this facility is adjacent to the athletic field a concession area was included in the design. A radio booth is located on the second level where students studying media related subjects broadcast live events. There are also classrooms for marketing, information technology, construction, consumer science, and more.

Exterior surfaces that include brick and precast stone combine to create a sense of stability and enduring presence. A glass curtain wall system located on the stair towers adds definition and allows daylight to filter into the facility. At night, these become landmarks for the school’s campus.
