The Coliseum Medical Center

Physicians for the Center for Total Cancer Care contacted us with the goal of creating a facility that offers total care for cancer patients living in Macon and middle Georgia. They also wanted this additional structure to be striking and functional like the ones before it.

CDH Designers created an aesthetically beautiful and highly functional solution for physicians, patients, and also the community. An existing building complex provided the backdrop for the renovation and the construction of a new contemporary cancer care center. There was a historical aspect to the existing building that architects wanted to preserve.

This contemporary addition houses all aspects of holistic, patient-centered cancer care and treatment. It is a part of the Coliseum Medical Center campus and includes a signature clock tower feature that is adjacent to a three-story glass atrium.

Natural light flows into this area creating a welcoming environment. A warm color palette, brushed aluminum, exposed brick, appointed lighting, and stained concrete flooring combine to create a contemporary but warm environment.  Sunscreens, a covered canopy, and intuitive way-finding relieves stress and anxiety for guests.

A portion of the structure was wrapped in glass walls giving it a fresh, updated, and relative appearance. Existing underground parking facilities provides easy access fot the facility for patients and visitors.
