Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain
Tranquility Hospice offers the comforts of a residential atmosphere for its patients and their families. The hospice is located near a quiet community of upscale houses northwest of Atlanta, Georgia. It is also adjacent to Kennesaw Mountain. Architects left much of the heavily wooded area undisturbed to preserve a picturesque setting. Fireplaces, hardwood floors, natural stone, rich carpeting, along with warm tones representative of arts and craft detailing create an inviting homelike environment. A large portico at the entrance welcomes the arrival of patients in through the main lobby.
Private care is provided to 18 patients. Rooms are detailed with trey ceilings, generous millwork, and richly decorated rooms and furnishings. There is little evidence of the access to oxygen and other required systems. A large mounted painting above the patient bed covers these systems when not in use. French doors lead from the patient room to a private screened porch with large rockers. This is a place where patients and their families can meet, rest, and reflect. The facility also has a small chapel and a library.
A central elevator provides access to the lower level for offices, training, laundry, and food services. This level preserves the front entry for arriving patients, families and guests. Access to a discrete parking area on the lower level allows for the arrival for transportation when a patient has passed. In 2013, Tranquility Hospice received a General Contractor Merit Award from the Build Georgia, which is sponsored by the Association of General Contractors (AGC).
