McNair High School
McNair High School located in Dekalb County remained unchanged for 37 years until the Board of Education commissioned CDH Partners to plan a renovation and expansion of the facility. The desire of the Board and the school community was to give proper tribute to the school’s namesake, the late astronaut Ronald E. McNair, who was killed in the Challenger Explosion.
A Performing Arts Center with a 519 seat auditorium and a 90 seat black box theater was included in the new construction. The expansion also included a new technology facility providing space for culinary arts, cosmetology and information technology labs.
The existing facility also was renovated as part of the redesign of the campus including an update to the exterior facade and addressing the circulation space.
