Mount Yonah Elementary School
Located at the base of Mount Yonah, this school was designed to accommodate 720 students with forty-five instructional units. The site constrictions and topography were addressed with a split-level design, preserving much of the natural setting. A combination of brick and dry stack stone offer a lodge-like solution. Ramps connect the administration suite, clinic, gymnasium, cafeteria, and kitchen on the main level to student classrooms level. Grades three through five are on the upper level and kindergarten through second grade on the lower level. The south facing media center and ramp lobbies are warmed with natural light through large expanses of glass.
