Sustainable design initiatives led to a 2-story plan minimizing the impact on the site. Both demolition and renovation to a “like new” status on the remainder of the existing campus have transformed this school. New construction is to the rear of the existing core. Conventional steel with a brick veneer construction is used with large spans of glazing for natural daylight. New classroom pods receive natural day lighting through a clerestory on the second level. The 45-degree axis of the pods with the school provides all classrooms with a view. The plaza, located between the media center and the lobby allows for visual control by the administration and serve as a gathering space before and after school.
